How to beat a cold
I came down with a cold this week, and for once did everything I could to fight it. Too much was on the line here... a crazy busy week at work, and the visit of a French VIP.
I saw the beginnings of a cold on Monday afternoon ("Day 0"), and by Tuesday morning I was quite ill. Yet, as of late Thursday, I am 98% better.
Here is my winning strategy:
Day 0
- stocked up on all the essentials at the pharmacy and grocery store
- 3x Generic brand ColdFX
- 2x Generic brand multivitamins
- 500ml orange juice
- protein shake
Days 1 & 2 daily intakes:
- 9x Generic brand ColdFX
- 4x Generic brand multivitamins (Life Daily-One Mens formula)
- 4x Generic brand Acetaminophen
- 3x Emergen-C "Super Energy Booster" drink mix, 1000mg Vitamin C per 6oz mixed beverage from packet, also crazy high in vitamin B6 and B12 (must be great for hangovers)
- 1L orange juice
- 500ml tomato juice
- 500ml chocolate milk
- 2x protein shake
- regular breakfast (cereal), light lunch and dinner
Day 3:
- 3x Generic brand ColdFX
- 2x Multivitamins
- 2x Generic brand Acetaminophen
- 2x Emergen-C
- 500ml orange juice
- 500ml tomato juice
- 500ml chocolate milk
- Breakfast at Cafe Joe (I think this is what solved it for me)
Montreal, you keep getting better!
This morning my alarm clock informed me of two points of interest: Montreal's public bicycle rental service has a name, Bixi (as in Bicycle Taxi), and its preview will coincide with Car Free Day in Montreal today.
The Property Shop has listed the neighbours
I mentioned previously that The Property Shop, a television show on HGTV, is shot in Montreal. I noticed on Monday that the building across the street has been listed by Tatiana herself.
So when I said that this show is "practically shot in my back yard", I really should have meant "front yard".
Dr Jim Sentence on Stephen Harper
Not because of some hidden agenda of regressive social policies, though I'm moderately sure he's got a few of them to pursue if he ever gets a majority.
I'm fearful of this man getting a majority because of what's out in the open.
Simply put, it's become clear to me that the man has absolutely no principles. He will lie, and break whatever promises he has to to get power. He will lie about what he will do in the way of policy. He's shown that many times already. He will blatantly lie and misrepresent the positions of other parties to get votes. The lengths to which his party has done that this election has already sickened me. As far as government policy is concerned, he will gladly sacrifice whatever the experts tell him is the best policy if he thinks he can get more votes another way, even if the experts tell him that's foolish. That kind of attitude in power is dangerous.
I don't care who else you vote for. Do not vote for this man.
