Birth

Radio@UPEI was born in the fall of 2004 by Justin Dorion. Interest was expressed to start a radio station, and the BEAT Program introduced it as a potential project on October 27, 2004 (see UPEI Web Radio). BEAT took it on as an official project in December 2004.

Original Members

In it's simplest form, Radio@UPEI is a collection of regular podcasters and contributors who collectively offer their audio material for download and syndication from radio.upei.ca, and collaborate on a live Internet stream. At times the group acts more like a traditional radio station, such as when large events are covered as a team. Duties for pre-production, post-production and other planning are spread out over the group during these times, whereas podcasting is a very individual effort.
